I sincerely hope that our British readers, unlike me, didn’t have the misfortune to catch Paris Hilton’s new reality TV show “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend” on ITV2 this week. Why? Well, and I’m sure that this isn’t a surprise to you, it is absolutely appalling!
The concept is that Paris has found 12 British people who want to be her “British Best Friend” (or BBF as the show refers to them), and through a sequence of tasks Ms Hilton eliminates one potential friend each week until there is only one person left.
One might think that given yet another opportunity at a reality show, Paris might try and use it as a chance to change our opinion about her. Sadly this doesn’t seem to be the case and the show only confirms our perception of her.
Part 1. Paris states “I Have so many friends in LA, I wish that I could take them all to London with me.”
Part 2 Paris meets her potential friends in London and tells them “I don’t have many friends back in LA, my sister and Nicole. All the others are just sluts.”
The first task the contestants had to endure immediately after meeting Paris was a makeover. “I like my friends to look hot, so you are going to get a makeover so that you can look hot enough to be my friend.” Yes, that is correct. Rather than get to know these people, like most half decent human beings would maybe want to do with a new friend, the first thing the unfortunate contestants get done to them is have their identity stripped away by some “stylists”.
After 12 weeks of bending over backwards and being made to do things you don’t want to, do you really think Paris deserves to be your friend?
The poor girl who got eliminated in episode one states “I read Paris’ book. I love her and really admire her.” After having most of her long hair cut off and being really upset about it, she was eliminated only to have her idol inform her: “TTYN” (talk to you never).
The show also used “Here Come the Girls” at one point. What shite!

i do not want to defend her and all… BUT… her life is based on appearances anyhow… so having a makeover does make sense.
I havent seen neither the british version or the american version… but it sound a lot like GOSSIP GIRL kind of thing. LOL
and I will have to disagree with you, Hanna, but her “career” did not start with that tape…. it was indeed a highlight of her “career” and it perhaps did push it forward…
I have to say though i LOVED The Simple Life… even if it was staged and everything!

I totally loved The Simple Life too! I don’t hate Paris, I just thing she did a lotta mistakes and I know she’s not bright at all.
But I think that saying bad things about her makes us even more rude and dumb than her.
